Note - The Nokia 3650 and 3600 are exactly identical. The only change being that the 3600 swaps European frequencies for GSM 850.

The Nokia 3650 is famous for its large display and totally uncluttered design. The battery is also larger than even the 7650 and promises better performance. However a heavy duty battery is required considering that the phone supports a built-in digital camera and a video recorder. The phone also has 3MB of dynamic memory so one need not worry about storage problems of SMS / MMS , contact list and the lot. Its more like a phone with advanced PDA features. Before going into the specialized content of this great phone , lets first check out the basic features. The 3650 has a healthy weight of 130 g with tri- band support. Which means that the GSM network support is that which works worldwide , on all network frequencies. The color display is 4096 color display with 176x208 pixel resolution. The digital camera has the ability of capturing pictures at 640x480 resolution. The phone also has support for download and running of Java based applications and this includes games. Transfer of data with compatible devices is a relatively simple routine what with support for Bluetooth , GPRS as well as an IR port which is present.

All these features demand a price and I am not talking about just the monetary terms here , the toll is also taken up by the weight which comes to 130g. There are flip sides to this too , such as the 3650 can synchronize with MS-outlook for example. . It has a full calendar/to-do client, and a very nice integrated SMS/MMS/Email client. Since the color display is large and bright ; it is easy to use these functions also. The new rotary type keypad will be a turn off to people. Though it is considered by Nokia to be unique, it is very difficult to get adjusted to and needs attention even after getting used to the phone. The directional joystick which is an improvement over the 7650 ( slightly difficult to use and had a habit of slipping away). The phonebook in the 3650 is pretty good. Not only can you have multiple numbers per contact, but you can have multiple addresses, email addresses, URLs, note, etc. There is even a field for the person's birthday, one for a full-sized photo, and one for a thumbnail photo that is seen when browsing the contact list. Voice tags can be added to a contact for use with the 3650's voice dialing feature. The phone also has a calendar and a To-Do list , both of which are extremely useful for not most but I am sure all of us. Both are pretty standard functions found in most of the Nokia phones.

Though the ads on TV show fantastic photographs can be taken with the inbuilt camera , don't be fooled. As mentioned before the camera can take photos with resolution of 640 x 480 which isn't much in today's standards. However it is enough for MMS and even pictures of contacts for the phonebook . Another fun function of the 3650 is the video recording capability , so far sounds cannot be recorded along with and this tends to dull the fun a little bit . The 3650 makes use of the Real One media player from Real Networks and these clips can also be viewed on the PC.

A great phone but with some teething problems? However do be careful that you will be able to handle the keypad before buying the phone. Also considering today's standards it is a bit on the bulky side. However the functions are really great. After all the final verdict is that of the user ,tell us what you thought of this phone.
